The Kingdom’s Critical Mission: Live as Disciples, Part 2

Pastor: Pastor Marc Wragg Series: The Kingdom's Critical Mission Topic: Discipleship Passage: Matthew 10:24–39

Some are called to ministry and face great challenges in life. Others lose family, careers, or even their lives because of their testimony. One may sacrifice more than another, but there is always a cost to following Christ. But we shouldn’t be surprised when we suffer for the name of our Savior. If Jesus preached God’s message and was mistreated, why should we expect better treatment than our Master? To prepare our hearts to endure the difficulties, we must remember that we are accountable for the message, not the results. Why is this important? Because when opposition comes, we will be tempted to change God’s message to suit our hearers. Opposition from unexpected sources will also tempt us. Friends and loved ones who do not know Christ may reject us, because while the gospel brings peace between man and God, it is also a sword that separates light from dark. But even in the face of losing everything earthly now, there is the certainty of eternal gain with Him later. Are you ready to be a disciple of Jesus Christ?
