Characteristics of Godly Living: Holiness

Pastor: Pastor Marc Wragg Series: Characteristics of Godly Living Topic: holiness Passage: 1 Peter 1:13–16

Born again believers evidence the work of God in their lives as they pursue hope and holiness. Hope is the Christian’s attitude towards the future, and it anticipates the fulfillment of God’s promises. We fix our minds on this hope by controlling our thoughts, meditating on the truth of the Scriptures, and dwelling on things that are pure and good. We pursue holiness by rejecting our former lusts and following after God, seeking to be holy in all our behavior so that our words and actions reflect God’s character, and separating ourselves from the corruption of this world and walking in His Spirit so that we may be used for His glory. Are you warring against indwelling sin and drawing nearer to Christ? Are you keeping a disciplined mind so you can think upon the truth and setting yourself apart so that you may be used for His purposes? If you call yourself a Christian, set the course of your life to seek holiness without which you cannot see God, and then fix your hope on the grace to come.
