Responding to Christ: Faith
Pastor: Pastor Marc Wragg Series: Responding to Christ Topic: Faith Passage: Matthew 11:25–30
Apart from faith we cannot be born again, repent of our sins, or live in a way that truly pleases God. But what does faith look like in the life of a believer? Faith begins with humility. The child of God is not self-willed or self-sufficient, but freely admits his weakness and total inability in his own strength to live for Christ. Faith glorifies God, because in our brokenness the greatness of God is revealed as the spiritual corpse is brought to life, and demonstrates a godly character that is clearly not his own. Faith walks in truth, proclaiming and exalting His name, as it is only by His redemptive work that we are saved. Faith comes to Christ and acts on His commands. It is not hidden, passive, and focused on the opinions of men. Finally, faith demonstrates repentance, putting off sin and obeying Christ from the heart. Do you possess saving faith? If not, come even now to Christ! No Master is greater or gentler, and He will never cast out the one who is broken before Him.
