Giving Thanks for a Great Savior
Pastor: Pastor Marc Wragg Series: special service Topic: Christ Passage: Matthew 11:29
Jesus tells all who are weary and heavy-laden to come and find rest in Him. He calls us to labor for His glory, putting on a yolk that binds us to Him and limits our freedoms, yet which is a burden that is both easy and light. He invites us to learn from His holy and compassionate example, instructs us in true morality, gives us everything we need pertaining to life and godliness, and teaches us about the perfections of God’s character. He offers Himself as the gentlest of masters, protecting us from being taken advantage of, harmed, or mistreated. Though absolutely sovereign and all-powerful, He is humble, condescending to accept our feeble worship, our weak prayers, our pitiful efforts, and our shallow praise. And in His care He has promised us rest, freeing us from the futility of earthly guilt and shame as we look forward to a perfect rest in heaven forever. Have you embraced Christ’s work and learned from Him? Have you experienced His gentle ways? Turn to Him now, and give thanks with a grateful heart.
